Scents stimulates your senses. If you have noticed, scents widely affect our senses and emotions. When we smell something nice, like the lightest scent of your favorite cologne for instance, you immediately have this feeling of warmth and familiarity. It even brings back memories or thoughts that you have unknowingly associated that certain scent with. Just like how the smell of a certain food reminds you of home.

Odorprinting is the natural mechanism in both animals and humans wherein you are able to identify a certain individual based on their unique “signature” scent. This ability is usually used by animals to haunt their food, or to identify certain people or chemicals. Ever wondered how sniffing dogs find those criminals, and the drugs, or even the bombs planted. Humans aren’t using this ability as much as animals do, but still we have this thing for scents.

Sometimes you even get surprised how scents remind you people, like how your cappuccino cologne reminds you of having coffee with your friends, or the sweet smell of a women’s perfume reminds you of your mom, and it makes you feel safe. Or how the strong scent of a musk reminds you of your strict dad or mentor, and makes you feel nervous at times.

Scents, senses, emotions….
