I have suggested to BB that she switch from the regular bed mattress to using an orthopedic mattress, because the doctor diagnosed her to have ten degrees scoliosis. It’s not really that bad yet, but it could get worse if not taken cared of. I also suggested that she go get it further checked, or better yet, start having a therapy.

An orthopedic mattress would surely help her, because even if I don’t have back problems, I prefer using it too. I have benefited from it. Better posture, and less back aches. I’m sure that once BB starts using it, she will have a sound sleep at night, less back pains in the morning, and she can also avoid muscular discomfort. I’m pretty sure her mom and dad would love it too.

Scoliosis is a condition that should not be take for granted. Scoliosis can be determined just by simple doing a physical examination of the person’s spine or back, however an x-ray would make it easier for orthopedic specialists to determine the stage of the scoliosis, and the possible treatment.

Spine Institute suggests several type of Scoliosis Treatments depending on the case. Mostly it requires an operation or corrective surgery that is said to help people suffering from Scoliosis to be relieved from the pain and to help correct the condition. Up to now, specialist are working on discover new breakthroughs when it comes to Orthopedic Surgery and Science for the benefit of mankind. If you are suffering from the same condition, I’m sure there is nothing more that you want but to Improve Your Scoliosis. Some even do things like Yoga for Scoliosis, or wear Scoliosis Back Brace.

Scoliosis of the Spine is not really that obvious until you see the difference in the spine formations. People ask what are the Scoliosis Symptoms, most especially those who suffer from Mild Scoliosis, that only developed during adolescence. This type of scoliosis is called Adolescent Scoliosis. But do you know that there are also other types of Scoliosis such as Idiopathic Scoliosis and the one that is not acquired but has been a condition since birth which is called Congenital Scoliosis.

Scoliosis physical symptoms are not obvious during its early stages, so it is still best that you always visit your doctor if you suspect that there is something different about your spine, or if you often feel pain on your back.

Understanding Scoliosis is Another Post from the Past… This post was written by Adi. I just found this on the site’s cache. Too bad, I have lost all the back-up but at least there are bits and pieces left, thanks to Google cache. I felt compelled to post this here for all those who have the same health condition and for those who want to know more and understand Scoliosis, from someone who has a loved one suffering from scoliosis. Read this…

Understanding Scoliosis

Liv went to the doctor yesterday to have her check-up. She’s pretty healthy in all other aspects except for one thing, she has ‘scoliosis‘ and it developed for the past few years. She’s been through an ongoing series of therapy sessions already, her condition does not seem to get any better, but at least it eases the back pains that she’s suffering from due to scoliosis. Even if one is not a doctor, you can tell if it’s ‘scoliosis‘ because of the obvious difference from a normal spine’s form.

Scoliosis is an abnormal curvature of the upper (thoraic) portion of the spinal vertebrae. In mild cases there may be symptoms, or because the misalignment causes muscle tension, there’s usually a complaint of backaches. In severe cases, there’s a danger of collapse of the vertebrae that can lead to injury of the spinal cord, causing paralysis. Therefore surgical correction has to be done.

Scoliosis Condition, Treatment and Surgical Correction. Usually, operation is needed if angulation is at least 50 degrees. The operation involves insertion of a metallic pole or support that will prevent further progression of the curvature. In Liv’s case, it’s only less than 35 degrees, and basically she’s been advised by the doctor to wear a brace and to continue the therapy. If you have the same case, or if you suspect that you or anyone you know is suffering from scoliosis, the best thing to do is to consult a certified orthopedic surgeon so that you can be properly evaluated and treated.

I’m not quite sure how much longer will Liv have her therapy and wear a brace, but I pray that her spine abnormality due to scoliosis will be treated without having to go through any operation of some sort. That’s why it’s really better to detect an early stage of scoliosis and have it corrected right away before it gets any worse. Scoliosis is a serious condition, never take it for granted.
